Tomorrow, Friday April 13, there will be no school citywide as part of the School Improvement Day Program.
What are you going to do with your day off? Catch a movie? Read a book? Go to the zoo? Play outside? All of the above? Please let us know!
And in case you are looking for something to do, here are three museums that are free all year round in Chicago, and might be worth checking out.
National Museum of Mexican Art
1852 W. 19th Street Chicago, IL 60608
Their permanent exhibit about Mexican heritage and art is fascinating.
Chicago Cultural Center
111 N. State Street, Lower Level, Chicago, IL
Right now they have a really interesting Keith Haring exhibit, based on a residency he did in Chicago with CPS Students in 1989.
National Veterans Art Museum
4041 N. Milwaukee Avenue 2nd floor Chicago, IL 60641
Inspired by Tim O’Brien’s book The Things They Carried, this exhibit serves as a visual companion that illustrates the narrative with fine art and photography from veterans that lived the stories in the novel. Much like the book, the exhibit explores the concept of storytelling and questions how one might share the story of the Vietnam experience.
